IMI Accreditation in automotive glazing

IMI Accreditation is an industry-wide scheme that identifies technicians who have proven their current competence and signed up to a professional code of conduct, administered by the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI).

There are over 40,000 automotive technicians in the UK who have achieved IMI Accreditation in many different areas of expertise. It has the backing and participation of all major vehicle manufacturers, body repairers, independent service and repair and roadside breakdown organisations.

The Automotive Glazing Academy was the first independent centre to be approved by the IMI to assess technicians working in the independent automotive glazing market.

IMI Accreditation

To achieve accreditation, technicians must pass a series of practical assessments and an online knowledge test. The process takes one day at AGA’s training centre or arrangements can be made for assessments to be carried out at your premises.

IMI Accreditation applies to four specific job roles:

  • Automotive Glazing Technician Grade 2

  • Automotive Glazing Technician Grade 1

  • Master Automotive Glazing Technician

  • Automotive Glazing Body shop Technician
